BAPTISMAL PREPARATION

The Baptismal Preparation helps couples prepare for the Baptism of their child(ren). The sharing of values by experienced persons is very important for young families rearing their children. Call the Missy Laurent at the Pastoral Center to register for a baptismal seminar and scheduling of Baptism.

O.C.I.A. PROCESS

Lisa Sieber (225)802-1165

Harriet Melancon (225)206-7033 (Adult Confirmation)

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is the process established for the universal Church for individuals to become Catholic and receive the sacraments of initiation - Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. This initiation process also involves a parish community experiencing a renewal in faith as it prepares and welcomes new members into the Church. The Order speaks of conversion as a “spiritual journey.” Centered on fostering a deep relationship with Jesus and the Church He founded. This journey takes place through distinct stages over a period of time suitable to give thorough catechesis, significant experiences of a parish community, and commitment to the liturgical and moral life of the Catholic faithful. It begins with Inquiry Sessions, The Rite of Welcome, Preparation, and the Reception of Sacraments which takes place at the Easter Vigil held on Holy Saturday.

Attached to the OCIA Process is Adult Confirmation Preparation. This is for baptized Catholics who did not participate fully in Youth Catechesis. Candidates are 18 years of age or older.
